Australia
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of e-meeting an agricultural enthusiast on a mission to create a virtuous food supply chain that empowers farmers and local economies.
Lisa Paisley and her sister Zoe share more than just a birthday. Their joint passion for science, agriculture and travel are what brought about their social business @aggie_global
Whilst travelling in Fiji they quickly realised just how much of an impact agriculture had on people's lives, on poverty and on food security. Keen to find a way to empower the more isolated rural communities, they spent time with local farmers and were told that one of the biggest challenges was selling. Sitting at the market took away so much of their their time. Soon the Paisley sisters were putting together food boxes full of great local produce and scouting out local buyers who all of a sudden had a quick and easy way to get all they needed in one place.
The Covid outbreak has brought Lisa and Zoe back to Australia for a while, but has not stopped their operations in Fiji, where their team is still keeping busy. Whilst over here they have expanded their model, turning their love for local towards Australian producers and putting together some great Christmas gift boxes! Full of local goodies and bushfoods sourced from local Indigenous Communities, each box purchase contributes to that virtuous food supply chain that empowers farmers and local economies.
Local being the key word here 💚
