Northcote, Melbourne

A spinach and cheese pie, some freshly made dips and a sweet treat for dessert - taking photos of food again! Like the past few takeaway dinners though, there's something very special about this one too 💕

The pie is made by Aheda, one of the wonderful participants from one of Melbourne's favourite social enterprises @freetofeedmelbourne . Free to feed is a kitchen in Northcote with a special twist! They're a place of celebration of the spirit, the potential and the wonderful cooking skills of refugees and people seeking asylum.

Before Covid19 hit Melbourne, Free to Feed offered fun cooking experiences where people came together and learnt to cook gorgeous multicultural dishes, connecting and chatting about the culture and the experiences of the migrants leading the show. With all of that having to close earlier this year, they have created some beautiful alternatives that are a biiig must-try! My yummy dinner is from their Brave Meals, cooked with love in the Free to Feed kitchen, available to order every Friday. The other option is All Together Now, a home cooking experience where you can immerse yourself in the participant's stories and cooking talent.

Beautiful experiences of food, culture and connection, highly recommended!
