My excitement for the weekend these days doesn't really come from "a break from work" or "it's time to party with friends". No, the weekend means it's time for @melbournefarmersmarkets ! I am one of those lucky people living in a 5km radius of both Alphington and Coburg markets, two that are still running throughout lockdown.

Walking from stall to stall I listen to wonderful stories of collaboration between local producers who together come up with a new product to add to their stall collections. I listen to tales of root to leaf and real zero-waste. And I generally just feel... warm, as Mike peers out from behind his @mikes_mussels stall, smiles and tells me "I just love the customers! You build up real relationships y'know, they become friends!"

"Melbourne Farmers Markets is a not for profit social enterprise dedicated to Victorian food and producers, regional food cultures, seasonal produce, biodiversity, sustainable farming practices and strengthening relationships between the consumer and the producer."
